Original House c.1960, with external alterations in 2019.
The brief was to provide external sun shading that could assist in the thermal comfort of the house without impacting the internal views or mid-century aesthetic, which remained in glorious original condition.
Taking reference from the steel beams in the construction of the original garage, the design of the awning and pergola provides shade to the existing house, while offing minimalist interruption to the internal view of the Derwent river. The original blockwork paving was carefully removed and reinstated in situ.
